The Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Universitas Hasanuddin held an inaugural public lecture in the final semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. This public lecture presented a guest lecturer from the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Ir. Alamsyah Kurniawan, ST., Ph.D.
This public lecture discusses “Data- Model Integration in Ocean Environment”. This activity took place at 09.00 WITA offline with strict health protocols in the Meeting Room 2nd Floor FIKP UNHAS and connected virtually through the zoom meeting application, Wednesday (02/03).
The activity was officially opened by the Dean of FIKP, Safruddin, S.Pi., MP., Ph.D. Starting his speech, he expressed his gratitude to Dr. Alamsyah who was willing to give a public lecture related to the use of the integration model about the fisheries and marine sector. Safruddin continued by conveying his hope to lecture participants, which were attended by FIKP lecturers and students, to pay attention to the material given. Especially for students, some courses are closely related to the material and it is possible to continue with the integration of models to obtain a more comprehensive interpretation.
The lecture activity was continued with the delivery of material by Dr. Alamsyah guided by Dr. Wasir Samad, M.Si. In his talk, the speaker, who is an alumnus of NUS, Singapore, started by illustrating the importance of model integration on data in the marine sector. Furthermore, in the current IoT era, it is very easy to get this data on the internet and it can also be directly processed by using applications that are also available in open access form, also on the internet.
Dr. Alamsyah also reviewed the importance of the DIKW (Data, Information, Knowledge, and Wisdom) hierarchy concerning the utilization of model integration in the marine sector.
After the presentation of the presenters, it was followed by a discussion and question and answer session which was attended by around 100 participants from undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral study programs as well as FIKP Unhas lecturers.
