Rector of Hasanuddin University Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The signing is part of the Indonesia Marine and Fisheries Business Forum 2024 (IMFBF) which took place at the Fairmont Hotel, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Monday (5/2).

This cooperation agreement aims to strengthen food security, improve management sustainability, and open investment opportunities in the marine and fisheries sector. This is in line with the main objective of the Indonesia Marine And Fisheries Business Forum 2024, namely increasing awareness of the crucial role of the Indonesian marine and fisheries sector in ensuring national food security.

Dengan tema “Food Security, Marine and Fisheries Sustainability”, perjanjian kerja sama ini memiliki tujuan utama untuk memperkuat ketahanan pangan, meningkatkan keberlanjutan pengelolaan, dan membuka peluang investasi di sektor kelautan dan perikanan.

Langkah ini sejalan dengan tujuan IMFBF 2024 yang bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran akan pentingnya sektor kelautan dan perikanan Indonesia dalam menjamin ketahanan pangan nasional.

On this occasion, the Rector of Unhas Prof. JJ said that as a campus that has long carried the Indonesian Maritime Continent Campus in its long-term vision, Unhas is one of the campuses that continues to support strengthening the development of the maritime sector, the maritime sector.

"Because we realize that Indonesia is actually an archipelagic country, so here we have a comparison which, if we try to optimize, will be a golden bridge to a golden Indonesia. "Unhas will always strengthen human resources, and increase the number of FIKP students, and is committed to developing innovation and research needed to strengthen a competitive innovation-based economy, as well as expanding cooperation with strategic partners in overseeing maritime and fisheries development," explained Prof. JJ

The signing of this agreement reflects a joint commitment to work together to face food security challenges, maintain sustainable management of marine resources, and provide support for investment opportunities in this sector.

IMFBF 2024 is a forum for stakeholders to further explore opportunities and potential in the marine and fisheries sector, with the hope of providing added value to the progress of investment in this vital industry. (*)
