Makassar, October 25, 2024 – The Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FIKP) UNHAS has once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing education quality through an event focused on assisting the completion of Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) documents. The event, held on Friday (10/25) in the GPMPR Room of FIKP, was attended by the Heads of Study Programs from undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, with direct guidance from Dr. Nursinah Amir, S.Pi., M.Si., the Head of GPMPR.
This assistance aims to ensure that the SPMI documents are prepared following national and international standards so that the quality of education produced is globally competitive. The Internal Quality Assurance System serves as a critical foundation in enhancing the institution's academic reputation, directly supporting the university's ranking at the global level, such as the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.
Webometrics, one of the critical indicators in the global ranking of universities, evaluates a university's performance based on web visibility, open access to scientific publications, and research impact. Therefore, optimal and transparent management of SPMI documents is essential for strengthening the university's credibility, particularly in reinforcing UNHAS' position on the international stage.
In addition to focusing on academic quality improvement, this activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly **SDG 12, which emphasizes **Responsible Consumption and Production. Participants were urged to avoid using plastic containers for food and beverages. This policy is a concrete step towards reducing plastic waste that can pollute the environment, particularly marine ecosystems, which is also linked to SDG 14, focusing on Life Below Water.
FIKP UNHAS is building a quality education system by addressing various aspects, including environmental sustainability. Reducing plastic waste is part of the institution's responsibility to support sustainability.
With high enthusiasm from the participants, this activity is expected to strengthen the role of FIKP UNHAS in achieving higher education quality standards. It also reinforces UNHAS' commitment to supporting environmental programs as part of the SDGs. Through these strategic steps, UNHAS is expected to continue enhancing its global reputation, including in the Webometrics ranking.
