Student Program for Village Development

Village Development is a program where students collaborate with their lecturers to serve the community. “This activity gives the opportunity to the lecturers to collaborate with the students and to apply our knowledge for the sake of the community development”, explained Professor Siti Aslamyah, who is also the Vice dean for Academic and Student Affairs, FIKP. She also added that the program is supported by the Directorate of students and Career Preparation Center, UNHAS.

In this occasion, Aslamyah gave a talk to 4th and 5th grades of primary school students, SDN Bucinri, Kelurahan Mappasaile, Pangkep Regency, on Saturday, 14th October 2023.

Kasmiati, a lecturer of Technology of Fisheries Product Study Program, explained that fish has high nutritions, relatively low price and delicious. She also added that fish nutritions has tons of benefits, such as high proteins, relatively easy to digest, contain amino acids complex, and vitamin A which is important for the vision. In addition, fish also contain vitamin B16 to prevent anemia and nerve damage, contains good cholesterol to help prevent blockage of blood vessels, and many more benefits that we could gain from eating fish, such as for the growth of the human bodies, etc.

The Head of the Mappasaile sub-district, Muarif, expressed his gratitude to the Student Program for Village Development team members and the lecturers of FIKP for their willingness to share their knowledge to his community. He also expect that all of the students and his community in the sub-district of Mappasaile will apply living healthy and fond of consuming fish, especially that Mappasaile is one the sub-districts in Pangkep Regency with high fish yield.
