At a solemn ceremony, Hasanuddin University's Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FIKP) welcomed 158 fresh graduates into the profession. The graduation ceremony, held in the second-floor auditorium of FIKP's new building, marked an important milestone for the graduates, who are now prepared to contribute to the progress of Indonesia's marine and fisheries industry.


Of all the graduates, thirty-one hold bachelor's degrees from various academic programs. The Marine Science program had the highest number of graduates, with 51 new bachelor's degree holders. The rest were from study programs in Marine Resource Management (19), Aquaculture (17), Fisheries Resource Utilization (32), and Aquatic Business (12) programs. At the postgraduate level, there were 20 Master's in Fisheries Science, 2 Master's in Marine Science, and 5 Doctorates in Fisheries Science who have completed their studies.

In his address, the Dean of FIKP UNHAS, Prof. Safruddin, S.Pi., M.P., Ph.D., congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance for them to continue learning and developing themselves. The current job market is highly dynamic and full of challenges. Graduates must continue to follow the development of science and technology to remain relevant.
As a form of appreciation for their outstanding academic achievements, Andi Mutmainna Qalbi was crowned the best undergraduate graduate. Meanwhile, Rahma Hidayati Maharuddin achieved the title of best postgraduate graduate. Both outstanding students have demonstrated high dedication and spirit during their studies at FIKP UNHAS.
With an increasing number of marine and fisheries experts produced by FIKP UNHAS, it is hoped that they will make significant contributions to addressing various challenges faced by Indonesia's marine and fisheries sector, such as sustainable marine resource management, increased fish production, and development of fisheries technology."
