Jumlah dosen yang terdapat di Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan seluruhnya 123 orang masing-masing 39 orang pada Jurusan Ilmu Kelautan (IKL) dan 84 orang pada Jurusan Perikanan. Pada Jurusan Perikanan terbagi dalam empat program studi yaitu 23 orang dosen pada Program Studi MSP, 28 orang pada Program Studi BDP, 21 orang pada Program Studi PSP dan 12 orang pada Program Studi SEP. Keadaan jenjang pendidikan dosen pada Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan sampai pada tahun 2008 dapat dilihat pada Tabel 1 sebagai berikut :

Staf dosen yang tidak aktif karena mengikuti pendidikan S2 atau S3 di dalam maupun di luar negeri sebanyak 35 orang yaitu 5 orang mengikuti program S2 dan 31 orang program S3 (Tabel 2). Staf pengajar SEP dua orang semuanya mengikuti program studi lanjut di dalam negeri (Universitas Padjadjaran dan Institut Pertanian Bogor).

Selain dosen tetap, Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan juga digunakan sejumlah dosen lintas jurusan seperti dosen dari Jurusan Fisika, Kimia, Geologi, Hukum, Biologi, Perkapalan, Peternakan, Sosek Pertanian, dan Sosek Peternakan. Hal ini dilakukan karena banyak mata kuliah yang tenaga pengajarnya belum ada di FIKP, serta banyaknya staf pengajar yang sementara melanjutkan studi.
2.4.2. PEGAWAI
Pegawai yang bertugas melayani kegiatan akademik di Fakultas Ilmu Kelautan dan Perikanan berjumlah 48 orang, terdiri dari 35 orang berstatus pegawai negeri sipil dan 13 orang lainnya berstatus tenaga honorer. Jenjang pendidikan pegawai (Tabel 5) serta jenjang kepangkatan dan golongan pegawai negeri sipil sampai 2008 di FIKP dapat dilihat pada Tabel 6.
