On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, representatives from the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FIKP) at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) convened with the representatives of Oriental Consultant Global (OC Global) Japan. The meeting took place on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Senate Room, 2nd floor of FIKP UNHAS. The delegation from FIKP UNHAS was led by its Dean, Dr. Safruddin, along with Dr. Ahmad Faizal, Vice Dean for Partnerships, Research, and Innovation, Dr. Khairul Amri, Head of the Department of Marine Science, and Dr. Syafiuddin, Head of the Marine Station. The OC Global team was represented by Deputy General Manager Mitsukage Yamada, PMP, Mr. Kubota, and Chief Engineer Ir. Umar Sulaiman, MT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initial discussions during the meeting paved the way for a follow-up session later that day, involving Prof. Adi Maulana, Vice Rector for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business Cooperation, held at the 6th-floor meeting room in UNHAS' rectorate building. This subsequent meeting sought into potential collaboration areas between UNHAS and OC Global, including solar panels, seawater desalination, ice production plants, cold storage facilities, and community development projects aimed at supporting local fishermen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These collaborative initiatives are set to unfold on Barrang Lompo Island, located in Makassar. On the second day, Thursday, August 31, 2023, the FIKP UNHAS team accompanied their counterparts from OC Global on a visit to the UNHAS Marine Station on Barrang Lompo Island. This joint visit aims to foster a deeper understanding of the local marine environment, enabling both teams to identify practical and effective solutions for the proposed collaborative projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
