History of Establishment\"3\"<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Consortium \u00a0of \u00a0center \u00a0for \u00a0seaweed \u00a0development \u00a0and \u00a0utilization was inspired by the Masterplan of Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI).\u00a0 \u00a0One of the programs in\u00a0 MP3 EIisthe\u00a0 establishment\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Center\u00a0 of\u00a0 Excellence\u00a0 in\u00a0 each Indonesian Economic Corridor.The main sector sin strengthening the economic corridor in Sulawesi areagriculture,fisheries and nickel.The maincommodityin Sulawesi Fisheriesis seaweed.Sulawesie specially South Sulawesi is the main producer of seaweed in Indonesia and its production has the potential to be increased. Based on this condition, nine institutions in South Sulawesi who have an interest in seaweed development united together to form a Seaweed Consortium and the consortium was proposed to theMinistryof ResearchandTechnology. The nine institutions are:<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 \u00a0Faculty of Pharmacy, Hasanuddin University<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 \u00a0Makassar State Polytechnic, Makassar<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0 \u00a0AgriculturalStatePolytechnicofPangkajeneIslands,Pangkajene Islands Regency<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0 \u00a0ProvincialBoardofResearchandDevelopment,SouthSulawesi Province<\/p>\n

6. Agency \u00a0for \u00a0Research \u00a0and \u00a0Development \u00a0in \u00a0Brackishwater Aquaculture,MarosRegency,MinistryofMarineAffairs and Fisheries<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0 \u00a0Agency of Brackishwater Aquaculture,Takalar Regency, Ministry of Marine Affairsand Fisheries<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0 \u00a0Center\u00a0 \u00a0for\u00a0 \u00a0Study\u00a0 \u00a0of\u00a0 \u00a0Coastal\u00a0 \u00a0and\u00a0 \u00a0Small\u00a0 \u00a0Islands,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, the Consortium of Center for Seaweed Development and Utilization was established administratively based on the Decree of the Ministry of Research and Technology No.157\/M\/Kp\/IX\/2012,5 December 2012. \u00a0In the future this consortium will be enhanced to be a Centre of Excellence in Seaweed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To become an acknowledged seaweed research and development institution in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

b.\u00a0 \u00a0To \u00a0enhance \u00a0value \u00a0added \u00a0conservation \u00a0biological \u00a0resources through mastery in technology<\/p>\n

  1. To develop sciences and technology in order to increase sustainable production and quality of seaweed<\/li>\n
  2. Networking Enhance<\/li>\n
  3. Dissemination of pro<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    d. To analyze and to solve social economic problems in seaweed local development.b.To stimulate growth of seaweed processing industries hence increasing the value of seaweed products c.To disseminate seaweed farming and seaweed processing technology.<\/p>\n
