The Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Science (FIKP) UNHAS kicked off the New Student Campus Life Introduction Program (PK2MB) for the class of 2024 on August 13–14, 2024. This program served as an initial step for new students to familiarize themselves with academic life and the campus environment, providing them with the necessary foundation to face the challenges of their studies.
The PK2MB event was officially opened by the Dean of FIKP UNHAS, Prof. Safruddin, S.Pi., M.P., Ph.D. In his opening remarks, Prof. Safruddin emphasized the importance of enthusiasm and motivation in navigating campus life. On the first day of PK2MB, new students received various essential materials presented by faculty leaders and experts.

One of the key highlights was a motivational session delivered by Irfan S., S.Pi., a Contract Farming Specialist from eFishery. He encouraged new students to stay motivated and focused on achieving their academic goals. Additionally, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Aslamyah, MP, outlined the Academic Calendar and Regulations, which guide students in managing their academic activities.
Other topics covered included an introduction to the organization, human resources, facilities, and the role of alumni, presented by the Vice Dean for Planning, Resources,
and Alumni, Dr. Ir. Abdul Haris, M.Si. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faisal, ST, M.Si., Vice Dean for Partnerships, Research, and Innovation, discussed the importance of student involvement in inbound and outbound activities to enhance soft skills that will support their personal development. New students were also introduced to Campus Life Regulations and the Student Code of Ethics by Dr. Ir. M. Rijal Idrus, M.Sc., which will guide their campus activities.

The first day concluded with a Campus Clean-Up Action, involving all new students in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of the campus environment. This activity provided hands-on experience for the new students. It instilled a sense of responsibility for maintaining a clean and comfortable campus.
On the second day, the enthusiasm grew as new students were divided according to their respective departments: the Department of Fisheries and the Department of Marine Science. They received more in-depth, department-specific materials. The day began with an introduction to the Human Resources (HR) and department-level organizations, followed by a presentation of the study program profile, curriculum, and several essential applications that will be used throughout their studies, such as SIKOLA, Sipakamase, SKPI, and Neosia. Students were also guided through filling out their Study Plan Card (KRS) in preparation for the start of classes.

Another important session was the Anti-Gratification Socialization presented by the Chair of GPM-PR, Dr Nursinah Amir, S.Pi., M.P. This session aimed to instil values of integrity and academic ethics in new students, preventing unhealthy practices in the education sector.
As the program neared its end, new students were introduced to various department-level student organizations they could join at FIKP UNHAS. These organizations are expected to be a platform for students to develop themselves and their skills beyond academic activities.
The second day of PK2MB concluded with a meaningful symbolic event: the release of fish into the UNHAS Lake. This activity served as a welcoming gesture and as a tangible contribution by the new students to the preservation of the campus ecosystem and environment. Through this activity, new students will gain a greater appreciation for the environment and a sense of responsibility toward nature.

Overall, the PK2MB FIKP UNHAS 2024 program ran smoothly and with great enthusiasm. The new students showed eagerness and readiness to embark on their academic journey at the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Science, Hasanuddin University.
