Barrang Lompo Island, June 2, 2024 – The Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FIKP) UNHAS organized a community service event themed "Concrete Action by FIKP UNHAS in Supporting the Blue Economy of Coastal Communities," which took place at the Marine Station on Barrang Lompo Island.
The event was attended by residents of Barrang Lompo Island, as well as teaching and administrative staffs, and retirees from FIKP UNHAS. The event was officially opened by the Dean of FIKP UNHAS, Prof. Safruddin, S.Pi., MP., Ph.D., who conveyed that this activity represents a tangible manifestation of FIKP UNHAS's commitment to supporting the blue economy, a concept centered on sustainable and environmentally conscious economic development.
Kegiatan ini menghadirkan dua pemateri utama yang menyampaikan materi yang relevan dengan pengembangan ekonomi masyarakat pesisir. Dr. Nursinah Amir, S.Pi., MP., memaparkan materi mengenai “Pengolahan Produk dengan Bahan Dasar Rumput Laut”. Dalam sesi ini, peserta diberi pengetahuan tentang teknik pengolahan rumput laut yang memiliki nilai tambah ekonomi tinggi. Sementara itu, Dr. Ir. Andi Assir Marimba, M.Sc., memberikan materi tentang pengenalan dan peragaan alat tangkap, dimana peserta diperkenalkan pada berbagai jenis alat tangkap ikan yang efisien dan ramah lingkungan.
In addition to the presentation sessions, the event also incorporated free dental check-ups in collaboration with The Health Research and Development Center of LPPM UNHAS. These dental check-ups were enthusiastically received by the community as part of efforts to enhance the health of coastal communities. The people of Barrang Lompo expressed high appreciation for this activity and expressed their hope that similar programs would continuously implemented.
Through this event, FIKP UNHAS aspires to continue serving as a strategic partner for coastal communities in developing an economy based on the sustainable and environmentally conscious management of natural resources.
