On March 1, 2024, in the senate room of FIKP Unhas, the collaboration between the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FIKP) UNHAS and the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was signed. The goal of this partnership is to develop a curriculum for 2024 that is based on Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) and includes proof of actions such as a shift from the old curriculum to the new curriculum. The event was opened by the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Aslamyah, M.Si., followed by remarks from the Dean of FIKP UNHAS, Prof. Syafruddin, S.Pi., MP, Ph.D. The Deputy Dean for Planning, Resources and Alumni (Prof. Dr. Ir. Abd. Haris, M.Si) as well as the Deputy Dean for Partnership, Research, and Innovation (Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faizal, ST , M. Si.) gave an introduction of FIKP Unhas to the guests from FPIK ULM.

At this event, the dean and all coordinators of undergraduate study programs within FIKP UNHAS and FKIP ULM officially signed a collaboration considering their commitment to producing an adaptive and competitive curriculum.
The signing of the collaboration was conducted by the dean of FIKP UNHAS and the dean of FKIP ULM (Dr. Ir. Untung Bijaksana, MP), followed by the study programs between FIKP Unhas and FKIP ULM, i.e. in Aquaculture Study Program (Dr. Andi Aliah Hidayani, S.Si., M.Sc.; and Dr. Siti Aisiah, S.Pi.,.), Fisheries Product Technology Study Program (Dr. Syahrul, S.Pi, M.Si. and Ir. Siti Aisyah, MS.), Water Resources Management Study Program (D Dr. Sriwahyuni Rahim, ST, M.Sc. and Deddy Dharmaji, S.Pi., M.S.), Fisheries Socioeconomic Study Program (Dr. Sitti Fakhriyyah, S.Pi., M.Sc. and Muhammad Adnan Zain, S.Pi., M.P.,), Marine Science Study Program (Dr. Khairul Amri, ST., M.Sc., Stud. And Nursalam, S.Kel., M.S.).
The main aim of this collaboration is to produce a curriculum that is relevant and responsive to the demands of the times and in line with the MBKM principles, which prioritize independence, academic freedom, and student involvement in the learning process. This collaboration will be an important milestone in the journey of higher education in the field of maritime affairs and fisheries.
It will make a significant contribution to producing quality human resources ready to compete in the era of globalization. This Implementation of Arrangement activity is the first step in a series of collaborative efforts between the two universities to improve the quality of higher education and the relevance of the curriculum to market needs. Thus, concrete steps in preparing an MBKM-based curriculum will pave the way for the creation of higher education that is more inclusive, innovative, and competitive in the future.

The primary goal of this partnership is to create a curriculum that adheres to the MBKM principles—which place a high value on student participation in the learning process, independence, and academic freedom—while also being current and sensitive to contemporary demands. This partnership will mark a significant turning point for higher education in the fields of Marine and fisheries affairs. It will have a big impact on developing competent human capital that is prepared to compete in the globalization era. Beginning with this Implementation of Arrangement activity, the two universities will work together to enhance the quality of higher education and the curriculum's alignment with industry demands.
Therefore, taking proactive measures to create an MBKM-based curriculum will open the door to future higher education that is more inventive, competitive, and inclusive.
