Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries (FIKP) commemorated its 28th Anniversary in a solemn atmosphere attended by the entire academic community. This year's momentum took place starting at 09.30 WITA at the FIKP Building, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Monday (29/01).

Present at the activity were the Chancellor of Unhas (Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc), the Deputy Chancellors, the Dean of Unhas, the dean of FIKP and the leadership of FIKP Unhas.

On this occasion, the Dean of FIKP Unhas Prof. Safruddin, Ph.D., in his speech explained the various achievements of the faculty in its 28 years. Even though it is still relatively young compared to most other faculties, FIKP has recorded several achievements and significant contributions to encourage increased achievements at Unhas.

"The peak of this celebration is not euphoria and excitement, but a reminder to continue to contribute to the progress of Unhas and maritime development in Indonesia," explained Prof. Safruddin, Ph.D.

On this occasion, the Chancellor of Unhas, Prof. JJ, expressed his appreciation for the various achievements that FKIP Unhas has achieved, along with the hope that at the age of 28 this year, FIKP can further increase its strategic role in maritime and fisheries development to support national and international development.

Furthermore, Prof. JJ also hopes that FIKP Unhas can continue to produce professional graduates who can make a positive contribution to the development of the Unhas marine and fisheries sector.

Prof JJ also emphasized the important role of FIKP in supporting sustainable development in Indonesia. He hopes that this faculty will continue to be a center for innovation and research that can make a positive contribution to the sustainability of marine and fisheries resources.

"The role of FIKP in the future will be increasingly strategic. Moreover, at the global level, the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs set the 14th goal to pay attention to marine ecosystems. "FIKP plays a strategic role in encouraging Unhas involvement in this matter "Hopefully, FIKP can be increasingly successful and play a positive role in nation development," explained Prof JJ.

After the speech, it was continued with the tumpeng cutting ceremony carried out by the Chancellor of Unhas accompanied by the Dean of FIKP and other leaders. At the peak of the celebration of the 28th anniversary, it was also used as a moment to give awards in the form of souvenirs to retired FIKP lecturers as well as handing over the positions of Educational Staff who had changed their place of work.
